Default 1941 Ford Convertible

I have two screw jacks for the convertible top works. I don't have the motors!
Can anyone tell me the value of the screw jacks. I have never seen them for sale anyplace.

I didn't think screw jacks were used in 41'. They were used in 52'-53' Fords and Mercury's, but discontinued in 53', do to issues with the system. My understanding is that all the other convertibles used hydraulic pistons. That being said, maybe $50 each, if they are in excellent condition and not bent. They come up on e-bay from time to time.

My 41 convertible has a PAIR of electric screw jacks, to raise and lower the top. A bi-directional motor each side located under the top mechanism to provide up/down force.

If the screw jacks get out of alignment/sequence with each other the top mechanism sticks/jams and you need to help it along a little bit. I think for this reason, they went to other systems. Vacuum and hydraulic possibly.

I'm not an expert but have repaired a hydraulic system on a 47 vert, and I believe Ford later went to a single central electric motor driving left and right screw shafts to provide the lifting force.

I may, I mean may, have a spare motor I picked up on eBay a while back. I have not checked it, but got it to figure out the electrical circuit. I can provide pics if that helps.

I was lucky enough to get an complete back up system for my 53' Merc. Pictured above.

Maybe some of these will help you sort it out. This is a 4 wire motor. The one in my car is a three wire motor.

From the wiring diagram, looks like Lincolns had 3 wire motors and Mercury's had 4 wire motors.
