Default 1935 1936 Ford Convertible Sedan B Pillar

Hi, can someone explain how the lower B pillar is supported on a 35/36 convertible sedan? Is there an "L" bracket that goes under the seat? Does the "L" bracket (if there is one) go toward the upper part or lower part of the pillar? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Most of the support comes from a triangular plate that is screwed to the front of the post and attached to the frame through the floor. See photos.

Hi c33 fordor. Have you got any photos of your convertible sedan project? It’s always nice to see another project! Dan.

I just signed up as a new member. I am doing a complete restoration on a 36 cv sedan. The other strength comes from the rear frame to the front seat that bolt across to both pillars. Also there is a rolled metal pan that goes under the front seat. Mine was gone but my body guy made a new one . I will send you pictures early next week.

I have some pictures but the file size is too big to send. I will work on this but in the meantime if you send me your email I can send them now. The first two show the bracket that attaches from the pillar to the front seat frame that connects across the body to the other pillar. the next shows the flat iron piece that also bolts to the frame. The next 4 show the metal pan under the seat that brackets to the flat iron piece as well as the fixed seat frame and the rear floor. This gives a lot of strength to the doors and body. I had to have it made up .
