Default Transmission clutch shaft bushings

Different ways they can be replaced, this is a pretty simple approach. Being thin walled they are easy to distort . Hose clamp keeps the split bushing from opening up.

The long bushing driver goes about half way into the old bushing to keep the new one aligned. A piece of 1/2" all thread and some nuts. Doesnt take much effort. The opposite side bushing needs to have a longer shoulder to make it easier to turn the nut, thats what the 5/8 nuts is making up the difference. A thrust bearing would also make it a little easier.

Make sure the grease hole is lined up and some light oil .

The bushing drivers i made out of some 1" barstock and turned them down and bored a hole.

If you dont have a lathe, a old crossshaft from a 39 transmssion could be used and weld some washers on it.

Getting the pin out, the last 2 i trimmed the peened end off flush with a cut off wheel and with the case empty you can go from the inside throught the input shaft hole with a long drift and tap it right out.

I ve replaced them both ways, long allen bolt and nut with the threads staked so it wont come off anf also the factory way with a solid pin peened over.
