Re: Has anybody tried a new zenith carb from snyders
I rebuilt my zenith 1 and started the car and let it run for 4 hrs. Work good. I did just buy a New Zenith 1 from Brattons. Price is up there. Haven't tried it yet. Did bolt up real nice.

Re: Has anybody tried a new zenith carb from snyders
I do my own carbs. If I was going to buy a rebuilt carb ,I would probably go with Berts . As for the new air balanced carb, $459.00 is more than I would pay for eny carburetor. I could buy a new 6 to 1 head that would make a big difference in drivability for over a hundred dollars less. I suppose If a person was set on running an air filter, I just don't see the real benefit or need.

Re: Has anybody tried a new zenith carb from snyders
Tazman air balanced carbs are $250. He does it internally so the carb looks original.

On advice of a friend, got a Zenith from Snyders last year. Best thing I did for the old A.

Re: Has anybody tried a new zenith carb from snyders
When you disassemble it, Don't pull it too hard. If it won't come apart start soaking it in a solvent. It's those venturiis. they are made of "Pot Metal" (Die cast) and they break rather easily. Don't ask me how I know. Another DON"T, Don't twist the two halves once you take the bolt out. If you're patient, and use solvents to get it apart, you won't break anything. If you're in a hurry and the venturi is stuck, melt it out with a torch and buy another one, they're cheap.

Re: Has anybody tried a new zenith carb from snyders
I followed advice here and purchased a Tazman type 1 very happy with it you can barely hear the engine at idle.... I used to have to shut it off at the drive thru to be understood. Its also a pleasure to go into my garage and not smell gas.

Re: Has anybody tried a new zenith carb from snyders
Inturnal balaced as to look original??? Then we add an air filter that's
not original??? Follow Tom Endy's how to rebuild a carberator, and you will be so happy that you did it yourself :-) IMHO no Big Hammer needed :-) |

Re: Has anybody tried a new zenith carb from snyders
I brought a rebuild form Tazman and it is fantastic It is not air balanced but I still use an air filter and the car goes great. The only problem we had was a leaking float when it arrived -which I'm sure was due to pressure changes in the cargo hold of the plane during the 12000 miles flight getting to me. -Karl

Re: Has anybody tried a new zenith carb from snyders
I recently put a new Zenith 13922 carb from autotestsys.com. I got fed up with the rebuilt carbs leaking like a sieve. Bolts right on. Uses the choke rod for choke only so no GAV to mess with. The engine runs so much smoother, no leaks no backfires. The car runs great. That said it resembles a Tiliston so if you are looking for originality in looks it's not for you. If you want quick starts and smooth trouble free operation it's for you. Cost is $279.00 + shipping.
