Default 8ba Dual point distributor

Found an original Ford 8ba distributor with dual points. The tag says F.M.Co. with the numbers 7 RA-12127-0 and H/3E. I didn't think Ford made any factory dual points, I am guessing it probably has an aftermarket conversion in it. Any thoughts on this?

More than likely aftermarket. I see some of these Mallory and run rite kits from time to time on eBay etc....

That was popular thing back in the 50-60's, putting dual points in those 8BA dist. I cain't remember where thay got them, JC Whitney or something like that. I think they were ment to give the coil a little more dwell time. Walt

Thats it, 49/50 Ford. After looking closer at this, it's a wonder it even ran, maybe not. The breaker plate is so loose that the point gap is all over the place. Got to be one of the cheapest ones made.

Honest Charlie sold a duel point conversion in the 60's.

I had one of those in a 49 Ford. Dual point conversion kit from JC Whitneys in a loadamatic. I thrrew the whole distributor down in the woods behind the barn (1962?). It's probably still there along with two Fordomatic trannies!!!
