Two things that I'd really like to know, is when it started and when it ended. At this point, I know it started before 1933 and I'm pretty sure it last, through the FH period of 1953.

As I indicated earlier, I believe that Ford did most of the rebuilding prior to WWII. Just before the war and during it, many dealers took over the task of rebuilding to stay afloat financially while Ford was building war goods. The outside rebuilding program continued into the present day. Mendenhall was a rebuilder well into the early 2000's.
