Rear end swap
Had a 1960 falcon for years getting ready to complete my restoration . Would like better brakes on rear . They do not make a kit for 4 lug rims . Has any one tried a ford ranger rear axle with disc brakes. It is only about a half inch wider and I would have to use 5 lug rims.
Thanks for any help Jeff |

Re: Rear end swap
IMHO, it shouldn't matter if you're using hubcaps, no one will know the difference.

Re: Rear end swap
Ford Ranger rear axles are off set which might cause an issue in your Falcon also mostly Explorer 8.8's had the disc brakes there is a real good section on these rears here:http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...ex-axles.shtml When these rears are swapped into cars usually guys will narrow them by shortening one side to match and using another short side axle, there are youtube videos of this being done. you could use a Fox body Mustang 8.8 rear which is also a 4 lug.

Re: Rear end swap
What JeffB2 means by "off set" is the pumpkin is not in the center of the housing. There could be floor pan issues with the drive shaft or the pumpkin itself. Try looking for an 8" out of a Pinto wagon (many had T-locks) and swap in the backing plates and axles into the Pinto housing.

Re: Rear end swap
I will see what I can find . I looked at a ranger rear that was already pulled and I thought it would not work. I will look into a pinto or explorer 8 or 8.8 but the width might be a problem.
