Might want to consider replacing the fuel pump internal parts with the ethanol resistant stuff. Hose from the fuel line to the pump as well.

I have an electric fuel pump on my 38 with a regular toggle switch, to prime it after a few days rest, it has also saved me from vapor lock numerous times

Does a little MMO in each tankful mitigate the corn damage?

Around here it's closer to 20% corn with pure gas available but $4/gal.

Again, many thanks. All of this help/info has been much appreciated.
Both cars had their fuel pumps replaced some years ago with ethanol safe pumps. I’ve never used MMO in the gas but I usually add some Stabil to it. In spite of this, in cars with glass sediment bulbs, you can see that the fuel turns yellow, gets oily feeling and loses its gasoline smell after time. On Model A’s and T’s with gravity feed systems I sometimes (but not often) need to drain the water which accumulates in the carb bowls in order to start them.
The Airtex specs do not show the amp ratings for their pumps but the instructions say to use a 10 amp fuse. Would a 5 amp momentary switch be adequate or will I need a 10 amp (larger physical size) one?
Thanks, Robert

If it calls out a 10 amp fuse you need a 10 amp switch. I would wire it with a relay, then the switch amperage doesn't matter.

Thanks JS, I'm trying to use the most unnoticeable switches on the bottom lip of the dash. My 34 has the tinyist toggle switch that I have ever seen in automotive use. It's used to turn the dash light on and off and is operational only when the ignition is on.

Small switch with a relay would be my approach then.

All convertibles have a momentary toggle switch.

Again, thanks for your help and info.
I finally got a chance to install the fuel pump. I installed the 12 volt Airtex pump at the front, near and above the serial number stampings. This was done so I would not need to interfere with the hydrostatic fuel gauge line which is siamesed to the fuel line. I used a tiny push button 16 amp rated switch mounted to the lip of the dash to the right of the steering column. I included a 10 amp spade fuse. The pump can be primed with the ignition switch in off position.
I jacked the front of the car up as high as I could with my floor jack and jack stands so that fuel would not run out of the tank. The car was jacked up for 3 days so I’m sure that there was air in the fuel line. When I pressed the button the pump ran for around 10 seconds which I what I had hoped for. I lowered the car and it started instantly. On restarts I get just a moment of hearing the pump and it won’t be used for normal starting.
I hope that this info might be useful to someone.
Robert
