Throttle cable replacement....46
Ok, to most younger guys this is no big deal. But...I am 78 and my body has lost some flexibility. When I get home to the snowy north next month one of my first projects is to replace the throttle cable. In the Fall I tried wiggling on my back under the dash to see the clip. Then I could not get 2 hands up there to remove it. The wife had to help me slither out from under the dash. I know a couple young mechanics that I will ask for help but any ideas on removing/installing the clip??
Thanks John |

That clip is quite similar to the ones you find on hydraulic brake hoses and fittings. That one in the picture would need to slide toward the 2:00 o'clock direction (as pictured) to release the cable. I'd grab the small 90-degree tab with pliers or Vise-Grips and tap with a hammer. DD

Sometimes a brake adjusting spoon can be used as a pry bar, catch the lip and push against the tube.
