Model A Marriage
I've seen lots of great photos posted and published showing Model As used in wedding ceremonies. I finally get to join that club. My daughter got married a couple of weeks ago and to my great pleasure she specifically asked me if we could use the Model A for the event. Twist my arm....
The ceremony was held on a gorgeous campus, the private school where my wife taught for 32 years -- until she retired the day before the wedding. They let us use the facility, which is unheard of. They never allow private events. It was quite a tribute to my wife's long career. I finally got the professional photos. The photographer shot a number of portraits using the car as a prop on the upper campus. Then we had the ceremony in an alcove, after which I drove them down the hill to the reception hall. It was pretty stunning! Here are just a few pictures. |

Re: Model A Marriage
Very Nice! My wife and I rode in her father's 1931 Model A Roadster. What a great day. We were married July 4th, 1992. Congratulations!

Re: Model A Marriage
Thanks, all. This was very fitting because when I was married in 1976 I had a Model A ('31 coupe). But we got married in Delaware, all the way across the country, at my wife's parents' house. My mother-in-law secretly arranged to get a Model A Fordor to drive us to the reception. So, full circle.
In more ways than one: my daughter married on our 38th anniversary, and I married on my parents' 40th. So she took the date to a third generation. Too perfect. |

Re: Model A Marriage
I married in 1978. We rode in a 32 Ford coupe rumble seat with part of the wedding party in a 37 Dodge sedan. My middle daughter wanted old cars so we got about 10 friends to drive their cars in a procession. Then a few years ago I posed my third son-in-law's sister and her husband in and infront of my A pickup.

Re: Model A Marriage
We used my phaeton in our wedding 45 years ago and it was in my daughter's wedding, just waiting for the grandsons to get a little older so it can be used there!

Re: Model A Marriage
Used my Dads 1928 roadster for my wedding back in 1987 and have had our club cars used many, many times it the past few years. I think it really gives a little extra special look to the whole affair. Great looking car by the way!!

Re: Model A Marriage
In the last picture you see the car parked in front of the dining hall where we had the reception and dancing. There were no other vehicles around so it was prominently positioned. I enjoyed watching dozens of guests using the car as a backdrop for photos of their own throughout the evening. Clearly people were enjoying it, and that's always rewarding to see.
