Hello Roadster-men.

Does anyone know what these rear side panel openings have for a purpose? Is this meant as a storage space?

They are not upside down. Hole looks to be too far back.

Hello at all,

I still do not know for sure what the big openings should be good for.

But yes, I also discovered "Schnapps", but in front.

Behind the left panel with the big hole I found only a red-haired mouse ...

I am wrong. They are upside down and swapped side to side.

Not even sure if you swapped them side for side and then vertically you could make them be correct. Maybe so?? Here is original panels courtesy of Marco...

Hello,

I do not think so. Because as they are now mounted, they fit exactly over the wheel arch and in the back of the body and front laterally next to the seats.

Regardless, the holes should be closer to the bottom, and their intended purpose is what I stated earlier.

Hello Don,

does it make sense? Because the panels are dismantled within 2 minutes, therefore I doubt that the openings are made to solve the behind laying screws.

Seems like it would be easy to turn them top to bottom and side to side and see how they line up.

Werner, your panels are installed improperly. Look at the photos that Brent posted of Marco's original panels. The access holes are supposed to be near the bottom of the panel, not the top. Remove the panels from your car. Swap the left side with the right side and re-fit them to the car with the access hole at the bottom, not the top.

The photo below was taken from Marco's website of a rumble seat area of a Coupe. Please note that the access hole is not visible on the side panel because it is at the bottom, below the top level of the seat cushion. Also note how the top edge of the panel is curved and goes further towards the rear of the car than the panel in your car.

Again, your panels are installed incorrectly. Try what I said above and see if yours then look more like the one in this photo. So far, five experienced people in this thread have suggested that you switch them. Why won't you at least give it a try????

Good morning, thank you for answer. Now I have understand the mistake.

The exchange of the panel is very complicated on my roadster. Because the backrest and the seat cushions are only plugged I was too unsure. (Our dog and my wife are supposed to go there.)

That's why the seat is now firmly screwed down from the underbody. And the backrest is screwed on top back sheet inside. At theese nuts I come only with very long and small little fingers up. But I will do that.

I bought the car in November. It's from California. There are many things wrongly and bad mounted.

May I ask why you bought a car like this without someone looking at it first for you BEFORE you bought it?

Hello.

Today I have the side parts of the mother-in-law seat changed and mounted upside down. Yes, now that looks better! The griefwrinkle will stretch when the weather gets warm again. I will do a sheet screw on it.

But now I have a new problem: Where do I hide now the Schnapps?

Of course I have looked at the car before buying exactly. But not seen everything because also was messed up.

Werner: Getting cars that are messed up seems to be the norm. As a friend of mine use to say, "Many cars are Repaired, few are Restored." I'm going throught this with a great looking car right now. Everything I take apart is just a mix of hardware and missing parts.
