Default New member, hopefully not an old question

Hi all,

I'm posting to introduce myself and look for some insight.
I've got two model a's, a 28 sport coupe and a 31 Tudor. I work on the 28 in my heated garage. It's currently -10f outside now, thank god for natural gas.

The sport coupe has been purchased as a body, then early 28 frame from someone else, then more odds and ends from elsewhere.

The last owner tried to "restore" the body by making a pos galvanized poor excuse of a subframe.....boy it was sad.

With that said, the brackets and connection points relating to the quarters was non existent. It had all been mig tacked together.

I searched but could not find a posting for my specific question so here it is.

Can anyone give me insight into the brackets I'll need to attach the back of the car to the subframe. Also, is it attached any other way other than brackets...ie. Riveted or spit welded?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I restored a 28 special coupe a few years ago which uses the same quarter panels as a sport coupe. If you are referring to the quarter panels, the bottom of the fender wells are crimped around the outer leg of the subrails. I am attaching a few pictures I took of the restoration process when I was repairing the rust-outs. Hope this helps.

Wow, I don't think I would have figured out to fold it over like a door skin at the bottom.

The only thing I'm unclear about is the brackets I need. I know there's a triangular one at the back by the trunk, and a straight one for the rumble seat hinge, but I'm not certain those are it.

Welcome to the barn. Lots of great information here, right at your fingertips.
Although, I am unable to answer your question. There are many here to help you here.
Seeing that you are in the GTA, have you reached out to the Huronia Wire Wheel chapter?
You can contact them through www.modelaowners.com.
All the best. Jeff
