Re: New motor break-in with babbit bearings
An extremely competent lifetime professional mechanic (longtime MAFCA senior judge and our club mechanic) and as I remember he instructed me
to drive it exactly how I planned on driving the car. The motor started on the first cylinder hit and we let the car run for about 15-20 minutes, shut it off and he then retorqued the head gasket.

Re: New motor break-in with babbit bearings
Uncle Bill!!! There you are. Mike rang my bell this morning with his comment reminding me that maybe I should know more about my engine build? New "modern" style rings? and was told to just drive the car, change the oil at 100 miles, again at 500 miles and I should be doing some pulls between 25 - 45 mph and then 30 - 55 and drive the nice engine he built for me. I could tell Saturday that after putting the first 65 miles on the car it really wanted to run at 42 - 45 mph, I continued to reduce the speed to 25-30 and do more pulls.
