New Book Available on the Ford Flathead V-8 Engine
......now available from the EFV-8 Clubs Online Store
This detailed 2 volume 456 page Album about the Ford V-8 engine provides the enthusiast with insight into the development of Ford's fabled flathead V-8 in 1932. Captured in this album are countless hours of 1932-1953 Ford flathead research by many V-8 Club members. It is not another book about how to build a flathead. In addition, you will find block identification, serial numbers, engine oddities, conversions, and much more. It's a must for your Ford flathead library.

Looks to be a great book. Pity that it was not out in June, as I could have brought a set back with me. Now, with postage to Australia, the cost would be around $200 Australian. |

Does anyone know the picture quality? So often specialty books like this lack decent pictures.

Re: New Book Available on the Ford Flathead V-8 Engine
No option outside 3 day shipping.
$81.17 tax, title, shipping. (in the states) Ordered. Hope it's a hardcover book, not a spiral-bound and but if so hope its chucked with some good info. After reading I'll add it to jwl and rons, etc stack. Good books are fine thing. Picked up some Harley D books at an action, A friend told me to to buy them. $100 for 15 books... to really buy 1 hardcover early HD identification book. I don't own a early HD, so I sold the out of print book on ebay. $300. Guess he was right. Last edited by Tinker; 08-15-2018 at 09:30 PM. |

Well hope the info is amazing then. My 35-36 spiral bound was informative. Last edited by Tinker; 08-15-2018 at 08:16 PM. |

They are very good. Ordered mine Sunday before last. Got them this past Monday.
Over half read them already. Pictures in them are good and they are soft cover and spiral bound. |

EFV8CA is good at that.

Why would you guys say that? I was a subscriber of "restorer" model a, and "Secrets of speed" mags, also the jalopy journal quarterly stuff. Lot's of great info in them.
One of my more favorite. Missing some updated bulletins. Last edited by Tinker; 08-15-2018 at 09:19 PM. |

Re: New Book Available on the Ford Flathead V-8 Engine
Before I slap leather to make the purchase, I would like to see some in-depth reviews from those people who have already purchased the book....

This was posted as an "FYI - For Your Information" post. As always, buy or pass is totally your call.

I personally thought your opening post gave a good insight into what contents to expect in the book. ie info details and not build details. So then you can buy or pass on the purchase. Thanks for initial post. I would consider it for sure. Phil NZ |

Some folks wanted to know what the photos were like...
Edit to add: I've been recently reminded that copying pages from a book of this kind can run afoul of the rights of the owners of the intellectual property being represented. In other words this type of photo can violate copyright laws. Please be kind even if I'm being sloppy.

Re: New Book Available on the Ford Flathead V-8 Engine
I was out of town and finally picked up my mail.
I'd say, if your interested in the early development of the ford flathead it's a very very good publication. Half the first volume is dedicated to the 32 motor and development. Lots of info and pictures, if you like pictures. There is a complete posting of early ford bulletins dealing with dealers on the new engine as it rolled out, and info/pictures of early prototype motors. Also picked up some stuff about chandler-groves and holley for the 38 carb that straighten out some info for me. Is it worth the price? It's up to you. To me it has a lot of great info that I have not seen and it's all in one/two books. To others, maybe not. Remember its about the flathead, not car specific, so only changes to the engine are covered, not about tail lights or etc. Full section on for stamping and serials through 53. As far as the flathead its pretty darn good. More info then most (I'm not sure a could say there is another book with collected material on factory info other then collecting ford old bulletins, even then) and a lot of printed material and old ford documents. If your looking for a lot of info on later fords only you might not like it (buy a book available about just your yr from the same people). If you are interested in the flatheads in general and the journey, its a decent buy. Lots of great stuff. It's a ground up motor detailed publication. The 32 flathead as a base and all changes made. I'd probably pay more for a hard bound book if it happens. But all in all I've payed more overtime to collect a bunch of info and still learned some things.
