Default Bob Drake has new radiator hose kits for '32-'36 with '37-'48 engines

This is something that has been needed for some time. Many had found a one piece Gates hose that fit '35-'36 cars with the later engine. Bob's new offers covers many other combinations.

You know Bob will not get rich overnight with this and will take time to recoup his investment.
The opportunity has been there for years for these hoses and no one has stepped forward with the ging to make it happen till now.
My hat is off to Bob !!

JM, thanks for that post and information . I have been looking this morning for that exact application. Hoping it applies to my 35 pickup with a 59A engine

This is an excellent addition, was a coincidence that I was looking for a new set.

I know BOB DRAKE isn't always perfect but he does step up and put his money"on the line." Reproducing parts, even tiny little parts, is not cheap.Thank goodness for guys like him , Dennis Carpenter and others.

The 32 hoses for an electric fan look just like what is on my car. I am using 21A uppers and 8BA lowers. They come with supports/guards even and Ford scripts.

I am putting a 59A in a 32 and planning to use an original V8 radiator and fan. Will these hoses not work with the stock fan?

Would like to hear from someone with personal experience.

Thanks,

There was an earlier thread on this subject. See: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51117

The set up pictured is similar to what I used on my '32 with a later flathead. The pictures in that thread show the use of the 59A type fan. I have the original '32 fan mounted on the generator and it clears the hoses. The Bob Drake hoses have a similar shape, so they may work.

Used them on the 59AB in my '32.
Clearance is close between generator mounted fan and upper hoses (1/4"),
so not much adjustment. I switched out to a PowerGen with same fan and clearance stayed the same. Took 53-1/2" Gates belt.

I have those hoses in my 32 5w with stock fan. Pictures in my public album of 5w. They fit really well.

Wow! I have been looking for hoses to replace the flex hoses (yucky) on the 59AB engine in my '36 for years. I just ordered a set of hoses from Drake.

Received my Drake retro hoses in the mail yesterday. Very nice items, rubber side walls are quite thick, hopefully they wont droop to much over time.
Reviewing the situation in my engine compartment with the stock (dual) '42-48 coils for my Harmon-Collins ignition, attached to a stock Ford coil mount on the left front of the engine, I might have a clearance problem. It appears that the clearance on the side mount generator will not be an issue. The offset in the lower hoses is a nice touch.
Putting the lower hoses on is a real chore with the later engine. Without the offset you have to use new hose and kink it to get it onto the water pump.

I bought a set of the Bob Drake hoses for a 32 with later flathead. We did a mockup in the 32 pickup I'm working on, and they do fit well and clear the original fan. Just thought I'd follow up.

That looks so much nicer and cleaner than the steel tubing (chrome or painted) fitted between two pieces of rubber tubing and 8 hose clamps. JMO

Also, those old school flexible hoses shown above in blucars post can exert enough force on the radiator inlet tubes to either fracture the tubes or their solder connections to the upper tank.

Guess it's a matter of prospective, I like the chrome or stainless tubes better.

That's why I said (just my opinion) JMO

I have a nice set of chrome/stainless pipes, 4 curved rubber hoses, and 8 hoses clamps that I made up for my 35 hot rod project with 59a engine that have never been used if anyone wants them at less than my original cost. I wound up using Gates one piece rubber upper hoses. Look much better, but again, JMO
