1935 Ford Drag Link
I am putting the front end together on my '35 Ford pickup. I need to know the proper installation of the Drag Link. Which end is attached to the steering box? the adjustable end or stationary end?
Is there any drawings or pictures of this assemblage? |

Re: 1935 Ford Drag Link
If your link has an adjustable end, that end goes to the axle. The non adjustable end goes to the steering box.

Re: 1935 Ford Drag Link
Original 35 drag links were non-adjustable and the grease fittings were located on the side of the drag link ends. The drag link was positioned so that the grease fittings pointed to the rear of the chassis. When the adjustable link game out in 1936 it was noted that the adjustable end should be at the spindle connection for 1936 vehicles and at the pitman location for 1935 vehicles. Apparently some interference issues with the 36 oil pan prompted this move. This new location allowed for ease of adjustment and still allowed the grease fittings to face the rear of the chassis. When the grease fittings moved to the bottom of the drag link ends in 1937 and were more easily accessed, the drag link orientation remained the same.
