Re: New '39 COE owner questions
Thanks, the previous owner had a tractor collection and thats why he bought the truck years ago. I believe this was from a calendar photo he used it it. We just came home with the truck, It's not as polished and a little rougher up close but were happy.

Re: New '39 COE owner questions
Finally got a chance to get a photo of the COE horn. It is mounted to the top of the right frame rail, directly under the floor where a passenger's feet would be.
Not easy to get a good photo there. The top of the horn is just under the passenger's floor board. The bracket is bolted to the top of the rail and has a piece at the front end that sticks up for the horn to bolt to. Tom |

Here's a little better view of the horn bracket.

Re: New '39 COE owner questions
Firstly, the truck is absolutely beautiful. It looks like an absolute dream.
Secondly, as far as brake parts go for the "Heavy trucks," you're going to need two things. The first, as stated previously, is the Green Book. It'll tell you all the different parts for every single bit of that truck - albeit sometimes it can be hard to find what you want in the paper copy. The second, equally as important thing for the "heavy truck" world of parts, is to establish a good relationship with your nearest, good-quality and knowledgeable parts store - by me, that pretty much means Napa or Bumper-to-Bumper/Auto-Wares. You'll need to find a store that, firstly, has some of the same catalogs they got 20 years ago, and secondly, people willing to go into those books and chase a part down for you. I was lucky enough to work for Bumper-To-Bumper and had access to the books and the owner of the store could be relentless in his search for parts. Some of the old catalogs had pictures and casting numbers in them, while the new ones do not - that's how I was able to find new master cylinders for my trucks when I couldn't find a good part number for them anywhere. The Green Book will only get you so far. Best of luck, I can't wait to see more of it!
