Re: greasing new springs
I'm not sure it is necessary if they are new, maybe some oil.

Re: greasing new springs
I used a graphite impregnated paint for springs. Very happy with the results.. There have been several threads here which discuss this.

Re: greasing new springs
Slip plate. Grease is a no no because it attracts dirt and will quickly be pushed out.

Re: greasing new springs
The graphite paint works well and will not make a mess. If you use grease, make or purchase wraps for the springs. Ford had these as after market items. High end cars used them.

Re: greasing new springs
I just bought a new front spring from Asprings. I used Slip-plate also. NAPPA has 1 quart cans at a reasonable price.

Re: greasing new springs
Spring covers were an assessory? Victor Page describes the Ford spring covers inpregnated with graphite lubricant.
Slip plate plus the covers would be the present day equivalent IMO. Last edited by Brentwood Bob; 01-11-2022 at 02:06 AM. |

Re: greasing new springs
If you can't find Slip-Plate, MolyKote spray works even better. It can be had on the internet or industrial supply stores.
