Thread Size
G'Evening
I need the thread size for 48 fuel pump input OR a source for a nipple (slip on hose) that will fit and not leak. Car now running w/elec pump thru filter direct to the carbs. Thanks in advance. More needs and questions coming . Paul in CT |

Re: Thread Size
IF you are talking about inlet's and outlet's on the fuel pump NFT is incorrect. It should be NPT for National Pipe Thread......Pipe threads are a tapered thread for "sealing".......NFT or National Fine Thread is a machine thread and will not "seal" when tightened!! I believe (if memory serves me) they are 1/4 NPT. 0r 1/4-18 NPT

Re: Thread Size
I believe Mart has the correct info....the sealing is done via a ferrule that is inter poised between the special nut [1/2 UNF] and a machined seat in body of pump.
And there has been a recent post about repop fuel pumps having the seat machined too deep, which means that when the flexible fuel line is fully tightened, it cannot seat, consequently, it leaks.

Re: Thread Size
Seems like those "Ford nut" barb fittings used to be pretty common (when parts stores were actually parts stores); but the only ones I found lately are the fittings from Stromberg. They have a dealer network; but I got mine from Summit. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sbc-9080k
