Burial
Today my son, daughter and myself too my older son's ashes to the forest where he played as a kid and buried the ashes. We took his ashes in the same model A Ford in which I brought him home from the hospital when he was born 41 years ago. He died a year ago on this date. Sad to say goodbye.

Re: Burial
Hi Bill and Family,
My guess is that not many of us have ever found one (1) sympathy card, or even have been able to express our own written words describing our heart felt condolences at a time such as this .... Please feel comfort knowing that all of our sincere hearts on this entire Model A Forum are broken after hearing about your most sad loss. None of us here are perfect; but, may you and your family find comfort realizing that all of us on this Forum really have deep down love and respect for you and your family. |

Re: Burial
I can't imagine the pain of the loss of a son, but can feel the joy of remembering great times together.

Re: Burial
In our small circle of our close friends, 7 couples have lost a child. By being their friend and listening to them speak of their loss, I think I have gained some understanding of what it means to lose one so close. That said, if it were to happen to me, I'd probably find I really have no idea at all.
I don't have the words to make it better but I sure know that if I did, every such parent would hear them. About the best I can do right now is to quote a well known saying about "It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all." My thoughts are with you.

Re: Burial
I am so sorry for your loss. I think it was special that you were able to give him his "final ride" on the same car he came home from the hospital. May the Lord bless you and your family and may the great memories give you comfort.

Re: Burial
Bill,
It's the most profound loss of all to lose a child. When we lost our son we were told that there is no word for us. If your spouse passes you are are a widow or a widower. When you lose your parents you become an orphan. But there is no word for a parent who loses a child. The only term that comes close is an "initiate." You have been initiated into a club that no one wants to belong to. I feel your loss. Marty |
