Actually, several engines (mostly stationary) used this spring set-up with reasonable success. The only issue I see using the one in the pictures is the lack of a dipper for oiling. On the other hand, Model-T's did not use dippers from the factory.

The ad is for the bolts only. I assume you use your con rods that would have the dippers?

At least the advertisement doesn't claim that it gives the engine more power.

OK then, how do you propose to replace the rod bolts in an A/B rod??

Connecting rods are in compression during operation,main crankshaft bearing caps are in tension.What that means is the connecting rod is pressed against the crankshaft journal when running,the rod cap does not see the load of operation.On the other hand,the main bearing caps bear the load of converting linear to rotational force.Spring load main caps and the results wont be pleasant..Connecting rod as a dipper?how? even back then they understood the concept of windage,drag as little as possible through the oil for lubrication,drag too much and the oil acts like a brake.
