Default Engine test stand modification

Hi Barners,
I have an engine test stand that was designed to hold a Short Block Chevy engine (pardon me).
I need to rework all the mounts. What angle does the engine sit when fully mounted? I logically think that it should be level with the ground but just want to hear your opinions. I know the Ford 351 engine in my ski boat sits at 15 degrees....BUT that's a boat.
Thanks, Bruce/CT

Go by the intake manifold carburetor flange. The carb base should be level to ground.

Had my 37 almost level and oil was coming out of vent hole in oil pan, using 4 qts oil,had to lower engine rear a full bubble with level on rear of bell housing,to keep oil from from coming out.

Something fishy going on there.

My 8BA series engine has a ( 4° ) inclination.
Some earlier engines do not have any inclination built into the intake manifold so using the carb mount to set level could be in error.(the carb mount would not be level )
