Proud new 'A' owner
Just wanted to introduce myself.
Over the weekend I bought a 1931 Model A Tudor Sedan. The car belonged to my grandfather, who purchased it in 1964 and restored it from '64-'66. He enjoyed it for years until he got too busy with work, kids and farming. Now, at the age of 83, he's decided to retire from farming full-time and spend his last few years cruising with his old lady. Unfortunately, his knees won't let him get in the Model A anymore, so he's going to restore his other ride -- a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air. He was going to trade the Model A on the bodywork for the '57, but I jumped in and told him I'd give him what the 'A' was worth so it could stay in the family. My pap and these cars are the reason I've been into cars since I was a little kid. This Model A is the first car I ever fell in love with, and that love's sent me down a wayward path of greasy hands and an empty wallet, so it's only fitting that it be the next one to hog up all my time and money. I have no immediate plans for the car other than to get it running and enjoy it as-is, then slowly bring it back to its former glory. I'm sure you'll see me around the forum a lot as I bring the old girl back to life. Last edited by Paps31; 09-12-2017 at 06:51 PM. |

Congratulations. The car will appreciate the attention. I say this often, but the Model A is one of the best cars ever made.

Re: Proud new 'A' owner
Extremely wise decision to buy a Model A not only to keep it in the family as a tradition, but also to buy it from someone who can tell what was done, and what was not done during his ownership for the past 53 years.
Then if ever in a bind, with his past experience, he probably has great suggestions and answers for your questions. The big Bonus may be both of you will chat Model A talk & drink more coffee together .... you both will love it more than anyone can imagine. |

Re: Proud new 'A' owner
Welcome Paps, I think that ’31 tudor is maybe the best and most practical model A ever made. I’m so glad that it’s still in the family, and that you have someone who really knows the car to ask questions about it. However, whenever you have a question that you guys can’t answer or are unsure of, ask the Ford Barn. I’m sure that both you and your gramps will be astonished at the different ways of doing something that you guys never thought of. Happy tinkering. Mike
