Car Cover???
Ok yall, I have a question. I need a cover for my 1931 closed cab wide bed pickup. I have it under a carport at the moment but I need an all weather cover to protect my truck in case of inclement or cold weather. Where can I Find such a cover without breaking the bank? I live on Hurricane Alley so i need to protect my truck from getting water in places I didn't know it had

Re: Car Cover???
If possible I'd suggest closing in the sides of the carport. There are good quality car covers but they have their own problems like, poor fit for a Model A, abrasion when there's wind, and hiding what going on under that cover. Most of the A vendors carry covers that fit pretty well. Good luck.

Re: Car Cover???
I have bought several custom fit covers by California Car Cover. In my opinion they are outstanding. But remember quality has a higher price tag. Superior covers are not cheap.

Re: Car Cover???
I actually did close the sides but not the front and back with hardy plank. but the weather is so crazy here that the rain still comes in. I cant find an all weather cover for a closed cab pickup. I ordered one from Macs auto parts and they told me that their maker closed down and stopped production. so, now what?

Re: Car Cover???
I looked on their website and the cover I need from them is close to $600, I am saving up for a radiator and I can't afford a cover of that caliber. but I need one that will fit decent and provides good coverage.

Re: Car Cover???
Yes, a good one is not cheap. I have a Covercraft "Sunbrella" model and it cost ~ $500 a few years ago. I'm sure it would cost more now. But it fits real well over my Town Sedan with trunk and spare on the back. They even sent matching mirror pockets that I had sown in at a local upholsterer.

Re: Car Cover???
Mikes A'ford'able is my supplier of choice, and I have had no luck. when I was talking to customer support, they told me that they don't sell an all weather cover for closed cab pickups

Re: Car Cover???
you are so right, I want a good cover, but i have to prioritize and get the radiator first. I scrap for a living, and my insurance is somewhat expensive because my truck is registered and titled as a daily. so money is tight at the moment

Re: Car Cover???
You might need to buy a large tarp to throw over the truck and weigh down or fasten properly on the ground at the edges.

Re: Car Cover???
Depending on budget that may well be the best idea. You might want to permanently fasten down the front so you just roll it over when you arrive. Easy to use and won’t blow away!

Re: Car Cover???
Thanks Y'all, I appreciate all the advice. My budget is quite tight at the moment, so I suppose I will have to use the tarp method until I can scrape up enough to get the car cover my Sunny deserves

Re: Car Cover???
MMM Just a thought. With $$$ tight for you right now consider a roll up cover for front and back. I picked up a 10 footer for our patio for $100 at Home Depot. It is a mesh fabric so I'm not sure if you can find one (or two) with a solid fabric but worth a shot to search.

Also for longer storage put some moth balls or dryer sheets inside to help keep out mice etc. |

Re: Car Cover???
My A is garaged but I wanted a cover to keep the dust off. I got a very nice multilayer rain proof cover with a soft inner liner for my CCPU for $162. This is not one of those paper dust covers.
It is not a custom fit cover but it has elastic across the front and rear. The first one they sent me was way too large. They sent me a shipping label to return and then sent a second that was a much better fit. After looking at Cover Craft and California covers I was put off by the price. I am very happy with this cover. https://www.carcovers.com/covers/car...SAAEgK7m_D_BwE Last edited by GPierce; 09-24-2021 at 07:12 PM. |

Re: Car Cover???
You say youre carport is closed in on 2 sides but not the ends. Go to tractor supply and buy a truck/trailer tarp and attach it to the open end of the carport. I used to get a heavy 'duck canvas' tarp for my small dumptruck for probably less than a $100. To me that would make more sense than covering the truck. Especially if you use it on a daily basis.
