Default Motor wheel hub cap

Any one know where I may find hub caps for my Motor Wheel, wood wheels. They have MW on the face of the hub cap. My wood wheels have been on the car since I bought it 55 years ago. The wheel are listed in the unauthorized accessories book from back when.

I will have to wait to get my car out of the shop to take another pic so I can size it to be able to post. The pic on my phone album does not let me size the pic from there. I'll figure it out.

Without knowing your abilities or capabilities, that is difficult to answer but all I can share is what I would do if I were in your shoes. I would make them. I would pretend your wheels were the only four remaining on the planet and you had to do something.

As for what options I would try, ...that would depend on my goals and budget. If I wanted a simple hubcap that is close in aesthetics, I would draw (-or find someone to draw) the hubcap in CAD using what pictures and printed media that I could find to replicate the details and dimensions. For the short term, I would probably use a 3D Printer to make 4 hubcaps that could be detailed with paint to look very similar to the original cap.

If budget money were not an issue, I would look at having them CNC machined out of billet stock 6061 alloy using that CAD drawing to write the G-code. After machining, those could be detailed in a way that would make them difficult to distinguish from original. And, ...if I needed to replicate them in exacting detail, I would use that same CAD drawing along with a 3D Router to manufacture wood dies to use in multiple pressing operations on some 3003 alloy. Then make forms to use in a lathe to finish spinning the hubcap body in a lathe. Might even consider using the 3D Printer to make those spinning forms too.

Just remember, whatever you do in this, your luck on finding originals will be much akin to a boy finding a girl friend. When he is desperately looking, they are nowhere to be found. Once he finds a girlfriend, other suitable candidates are everywhere!!

Wow! Nice move. The hub caps now on the car, I had turned at about $125 each. They are aluminum stock, welded from 2 pieces and then turned. Maybe someday I can find a car or adouble A with the same wheel with the original hub cap and take good piks of it for reproduction.
I know the wheels are very rare, as no one has ever seen them around but in a few pics here and there. What would be ones guess as to the value of these wheels. When it's time to sell the car, it would help the selling price. I will probably be handing the car down to my son and it would be up to him to keep or sell. The Car won Many best of show, and 1ST place trophy. The wife made me put shelfs up in the garage. After 55 years with me owning the car, maybe they can put me in the grave with it.

We had a discussion regarding wood spoke wheels a few months ago.

https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...ght=Wood+spoke

@31 Woody has information regarding these wheels. Maybe he will be along shortly.

Are motor wheels spokes made out of wood? Or?

A few years ago there was a fellow in Montana making aluminum spokes for Model Ts.

The Motor Wheel is wood. Most likely hickory. They are quit thicker then a T Wheel and shorter.mine are on a 29 and are a standard 21".

Here are a few pictures, some wouldn’t load. Probably too big. The hubcaps are really hard to find. I was actually going down the path of getting them drawn in SolidWorks and then 3D printing them. So far that hasn’t worked out. Another friend with a set made a simple adapter and is running 28/29 Model A hubcaps on his set.
