I'm finishing the last details on the interior for my '29 Murray Town Sedan and would like to see if anyone can tell me if these are the correct assist cords that mount on the hinge side of the back door opening to assist backseat occupants in getting out of the car.
These were in the car along with the rest of the original interior and I tend to think they may be original as the cord matches the robe cord that was mounted on the back of the front seat.
All of the parts vendors I've checked so far only list a woven strap for this application which is not at all like these.
I'd sure appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on if these are correct or if they are something that was added at a later date.

Here is an interior photo of an all-original Town Sedan which I found on the internet 2/3 years ago.

I don't know if they are original or not but they look cool. If they are in good shape why not use them? The way I figure it, my car has some funny things in it but it was done in the early '50s so its been long enough now that who do I think I am to change it? Anything thats been around longer than I have is considered "original aftermarket" in my book!

I have seen those type assist straps in an original 1929 Murray TS. As Don says, the flat loop style was used in the straight w/s TS 1930 early '31.

If it is not a points car I believe you use what looks cool to you ( as long as it is Model A ). Lets face it these cars are mostly just for fun and the enjoyment of others to look at. If it brings a smile to your face do it because it is yours to do whatever you want ! The final decision rests with the person's whose name on the title !

These are in very good shape although a little faded so may go ahead and install them and see how they look.

Both Briggs and Murray town sedans used these rope pulls, but in '29 only. They are becoming extremely hard to find, and no one seems to making replacements.

I have a 29 Town Sedan with the same rope cords in the back, one is in rough shape. Im also missing the rope cord for the back seat(I have the brackets). Is there anyone that sells or would be willing to sell rope of this vintage and look?

Brian, MAC'S sells what you are looking for. It is called a robe cord and you'll pay about $100.00 for one. I had the cord but I didn't have the brackets for My '30 Town Sedan. The brackets at MAC'S were about $12.00 so I made my own. The cord is a nice touch.
