Default Late '36 Shift knob?

At the swap meet yesterday, I bought what I think may be a late '36 black shift knob with the V8 logo. Height and shapewise, it's in between a regular '36 knob and a '37/38 knob. In other words, not as round as the earlier '36 w/o the logo, but more rounded (taller) than the '37/38. Does this sound about right? I've never seen one before that I can recall, and there's no picture in the EV8 35/36 book. My only concern is the 8 in the V8 logo looks like 2 zero's that don't quite touch rather than the correct version, which makes me think it might be aftermarket. Thoughts?

I know nothing on the subject exactly.... but..... Ford seems to have been pretty particular about the V8 logo.... they were always pretty nice in my opinion... so 2 spaced apart circles to make the 8 would have me scratchin my head for sure.....

any photos?

Yeah, that's why I think it might be aftermarket. I'll get a photo tonight when I get home.

Here's the pic. I thought it was black, but now I think it is really dark dark brown in sunlight, but otherwise it still looks black.

i have a small chromed one just like your picture with the 2 - 0's. must be aftermarket, maybe avoiding trademark law?

I believe the late 36 knob has the V8 indented and not embossed.
