Brain Fade!
Went to start my '41 PU yesterday - all went fine, except I got distracted and forgot to switch the ignition to ON. Cranked and cranked...battery was weak to begin with but I recovered my error too late.
Then put on the charger. Got the polarity correct but the negative clip was on the solenoid side of the battery disconnect clamp (that I had opened as part of the charge procedure) and I wondered for a bit why the charger indicated zero amps output? DUH! Relocated the neg clip to the battery post side and all was good. I just shook my head in disbelief and went to lunch. Can't win some days I guess Oh, yes, Happy Resurrection Day!

Re: Brain Fade!
Normally, a guy would look around to see if anyone else noticed his blunder. At least you are comfortable enough post to the world just how dumb you can be. Ha Ha. Hope things go better after lunch.

Re: Brain Fade!
And when you build a fresh engine and put it in the recipient vehicle, don't forget to put some oil in it. Don't ask why I mention this.

Re: Brain Fade!
I’ve a “friend” who routinely makes great double flares when making up brake lines. My “friend “ has routinely tossed the lines after making the length perfect. My “friend “ does forget to put the fitting on the line first.
I still like me though. |

Re: Brain Fade!
Any of you guys changed the oil, then poured in the new oil - without refitting the drain plug first?! I was 16 when that first happened to me...never did it again. My dad was pissed...all over the clean garage floor!

Re: Brain Fade!
Took my newly restored 35 coupe to a car show, parked-got out-walked away about 20 feet- some one yelled your car is on fire. shure enough the whole wiring harness was red hot and burning.grabbed a set of wire cutters and cut most of the wireing harness in two. Stepped back and wondered why I didn't turn the battery disconect switch off under the seat

Please do not go to the H.A.M.B. and check out the thread entitled : "What's the dumbest thing you ever did to your vehicle while working on it?".
Thank you. |

Re: Brain Fade!
Smoked a original yellow top coil when I had a yblock on the stand. Left the switch on. It happens.
