Default Any tricks to removing a stuck temp gauge tube?

I have a '36 with a stock engine and I'm trying to remove the temp gauge tube from the water pump without damaging it. I tried gently pulling on it with pliers, but felt like I was going to crush or kink the capillary. Any suggestions?

ugh my bad...

Work it back and forth. maybe if the pump is removed you could pop it from behind. best to add anyway.

Try removing the top hose. looking down the hole you'll see the bottom of the probe protruding through at an angle...Use a bent bit of rod to try and get under the probe and tap it up from underneath. It is seated on a 45 degree seat, you need to break the seal. Do not be tempted to lever the probe sideways. Patience and perseverance should enable you to free it up. Good luck. When you go to reinstall it, coat the seat area with antiseize compound and just nip it up. It doesn't require massive torque applied to seal.

Heat, spraying it with either Kroil or 50/50 mix of ATF & Acetone, a gentle hand and patience.
