Another wiper motor question
I was trying to install a wiper motor that I have into my 36 pickup and was not having any luck aligning the control arm with the holes in the cover plate. After some time of wondering what I'm doing wrong I finally realized that my on/off arm is on the opposite side of all the pictures I was looking at. If your sitting behind it, it's on the left side. All the pictures that I've seen, it's on the right side. Does anyone have any idea what I've got?
Thanks Mark |

Re: Another wiper motor question
Pickup wiper motors are opposite passenger vehicles -- as you found out when you went to mount the cover plate.
Don't ask me why, but Ford used a different setup for the pickups. This goes against everything Ford practiced in the 30's-- like continuing to use up the previous year parts.. Here is a factory drawing the I got from 1935-1936 advisor Don Rogers. Hope this helps. |

The arm that sticks into the cab is on the opposite side than what the picture shows. That's what has me bumfuzzled.

Re: Another wiper motor question
if I'm reading this right, there are 2 different wiper motors...one for the cars and the other for pickups? Or you don't have a wiper for the right year? Terry

Re: Another wiper motor question
Yeah, That's what I'm figuring out. The visor cover has 3 hole in it. 2 on the right side and 1 in about the middle. The one in the middle is the only one that will work with what I have.

Re: Another wiper motor question
According to a EFV8 supplier, coupe wipers are different than sedans. open-car wipers are different than closed-car wipers.

Re: Another wiper motor question
Ok, I think I got it. No telling where this motor came from . It was in the glove box and someone put in an electric one. I think I'll do some searching for a correct one.
Thanks everyone who chimed in. I learn something new here everyday. Mark |
