Default 36 Spare Wheel mount.

Anyone knows if there should be some kind of gasket between mounting bracket and body?

I used a piece of inner tube rubber and glued it to the mount.

I think mine was original when I took it apart last month and there was no gasket, but adding one sounds like a great idea, keep the paint from getting scratched, not too think thought, don't want it to flex as the heavy spare will vibrate.

I'm not really sure about what might have been used between spare tire mounting bracket and the body on a '36 passenger car, but on the original '35 passenger vehicles that I own,....there are/were three thin fiber washer's located there.

I agree with JM35. On my '35 coupe with 30K original miles there are three round fiber washers.

For watersealing or maybe to keep the bracket a little off from the paint.
