King Pin Cross Pins
Do you guys run into king pin cross pins that are super hard to remove? On my 40, I have been beating the cross pin for a while but on the passenger side it doesn't budge. On the drivers side it came out with a few light taps. Should I put heat on it or just keep pounding or ???

Re: King Pin Cross Pins
New king pin kits includes new keeper bolts. But keep your original long acorn nuts. They also act as stops. The new Kits have regular nuts.
A good square hit usually knocks them out |

Got it. Just took allot of pounding. About 100 hard blows! Thanks.

Re: King Pin Cross Pins
I have had those be stubborn enough to require drilling out, I drill increasing size till it’s almost full diameter. Not too deep though, only through the threaded portion, enough to be a tad into the axle hole, then use a good punch.

For sure keep the original nut ends, they act as stops as mentioned. They are not reproduced. (to my knowledge) |

Re: King Pin Cross Pins
Never had one that wouldn't come out. The original nut, backed off just a bit and a good well aimed and angled blow and that's normally enough for me.

Only a front axle still attached.
