Default Original spindle bolt bushings steel?

Were they original steel i.d. or brass or copper coated? I know new repro's are brass i.d. ,surprised looking at my original spindles seem to be solid steel,no soft metal unless that is babbit not steel i.d.

Some were brass, some were brass coated steel, some wartime service parts had sintered steel bushings--- by observation only, don't have any documentation
