Default Battery hold down question.

Changing the battery in the 40, has a Grp 1 and replacing with a Grp 2. The battery hold down brkt in the rear has two bolts holding it to the firewall. The lower bolt has a blob of weld (?) on the edge and can't get a wrench on it. Didn't have my light with me and in a slightly dark garage. Is this normal?? Probably not.
Anybody have a pic or opinion.
Thanks

lower bolt is removed from inside the car (on firewall insulation, in a cup) and to keep it in place when removing/replacing there is a blob of weld to hold it together
