Maybe a few of us Aussies could have our own forum where we speak Strine. I've heard how Navajo Indians were used during WWII because no one could break their "code". Seems the Americans can't figure us out either. I'm amused sometimes how they get that blank look at our rhyming slang

dont feel bad Synchro,

I sometimes understand only bout 60% of what some folks say in the south here, compared to coming from the north. toughest US dialect I ever did hear was from the hills of Kentucky.
didn't know much of what was being said, but I did smile a lot....................

Was that CW, the mechanic, that you were thinking of?
I always got a kick out of that quick hot wire job also, as it can't be done that fast on a Model A, unless he found a spare key hanging under the hood.

That's one thing about Australia. In a country as geographically big as mainland USA (though only about 22 million people), there is virtually no difference in accent from one end to the other. The only give away might be terminology but you'd have to listen carefully.
How did we get here from Did they steal Model As in the day??

I thought that too, until I was in the USA with a mate. I'm from Vic and he was originally from Qld. We were out at a BBQ one night, and the hosts could tell what state we were from just by our different accents, and we had never met them before.
