Remove inner oil pan
Hallo,
does anyone have a suggestion how I pull out the corrugated iron insert-pan off the whole oil pan? (Tiny rust holes!)

Re: Remove inner oil pan
Put a piece of old junk carpet on the ground and drop the pan upside down on the carpet it will just pop out . You might have to assist gravity a litle bit .Dont do it on bare concrete .

Re: Remove inner oil pan
Best to put the pan in a plastic garbage bay prior to dropping. It will contain the sludge!!

Re: Remove inner oil pan
The easiest of all way is to place a C-clamp inside the oil pump opening and lay a 2x4 in. piece of wood across the top of the oil pan. Simply wind up the C-clamp and out pops the dipper try. Ed

Re: Remove inner oil pan
Make sure when you replace the baffle it snaps totaly in place, check and double check! You do not want to drop the pan for a do over.

Remove slot screw plug and insert holder, remember to remove holder and insert plug when job is complete.
Here is another version of the holder |

Re: Remove inner oil pan
I did it similar to PalAl. That worked well, thanks for the hint!
Again, it is easy to see how clean the interior of a motor is, if it is lubricated with HD oil SC. Minimal hardly any residues in the oil pan.

Re: Remove inner oil pan
The last time I needed to remove the dipper tray from an oil pan, I had a 28-29 headlight bar on the bench that I tried to see if it would be a good pry bar. The curve on the end and the flange for the mounting bolts works perfectly as a pry bar. Use your foot on the pan and with the headlight bar, the dipper tray will pop right out.
My experience, Chris W. |

Re: Remove inner oil pan
I did like John said: tied it up in trash bag, held it up about head high, dropped it top side down on a piece of plywood on concrete driveway and popped right out first try. Boy was it grungy though!

Posts: 362 Easy Oil Pan Baffel Removel Thought I would share how I removed the baffle from my oil pan after I finally got if off , for those who haven't tried this yet . . I used my slide hammer with the small hook , with a rubber cap to protect the baffle , hooked it in the small hole side of the baffle , and it popped out on the second slide . Attached Thumbnails |

Re: Remove inner oil pan
When you have the dipper tray out and cleaned, hold it up so sunlight will shine on it and check for rusted through spots. Water will settle in the dipper troughs and rust them.

Re: Remove inner oil pan
Guten Abend Jim,
here at this point I have to enjoy myself. When I had the tub solved yesterday, I saw some rough areas (like rice) below. I soldered them hard today!
