Read where I can substitute blue Bosch (?) can coil for my stock 42 crab distributor coil. Sounds like an easy swap (and cheaper but not stock) after making a bracket to hold it. Any weird stuff to look out for? Is the blue coil 6V ? Thanks

Im pretty sure the bosch coil has an internal resistor ,so you would by pass the one under the dash . I did the same thing on my 40 coupe.

I believe that these are a true 6V coil with no ballast resistor, but you do still need to bypass the ignition resistor.

The Bosch 012 blue coil I'm running on the 8ba in my '39 is 12 volt with an internal resistor. Bosch makes a "blue coil" in 6 volts but its now silver, part number 0 221 124 001.

No resistor is required with a 6v coil assuming it is around 1.5 ohms.
