Just being close to the exhaust manifold might be enough for an aluminum manifold. The aluminum manifold for my Weber carburetor has a pad that is about 1/4 inch away from the exhaust manifold pad. As an experiment I added a plate of copper there and the intake manifold got way too hot (450 F). So I would suggest being careful about adding a pad. If too close or in contact with the exhaust manifold it could be over kill.

I just installed an original Burns with a stock exhaust. Had to grind the fins to clear. May be the case with the repop. Now that we have cooler weather will pay more attention to the heating. Good Luck: Fred A

Yes, the Snyder's instructions for their reproduction Burns intake say that you will have to grind down the fins to clear a stock exhaust. You also have to locate and drill the holes for the bolts that connect it to the heat transfer plate on the exhaust.
