Thank you - had the car out today and it really went through a shakedown run - it absolutely poured buckets on the way home from a picnic with some good buds of mine about 40 miles away. Had some interstate, local roads, plenty of rough roadwsy. No windshield or top leaks and the car never missed a beat with all the water on the ground, what came down, and the rough roads. One slight leak around the vent pipe drain. I will check that this week. Not too shabby and I think we are ready .....

So I have what will be the stops on our way out to LA ....

6/9 - Harriman, TN
6/10 - Russellville, AR
6/11 - Tucumcari. NM
6/12 - Kingman, AZ

If you live anywhere near these stops, PM me and maybe you can stop by and visit. I think we have 5-6 cars starting in our caravan and we get larger as we go along. We would love to meet up with as many 'Barn and HAMB folks as possible - it's always great to meet members in person .....

Remember that there is a thread on the HAMB as well by HamtownAl with "Smithfield Express" in the title ....

I'll be following your posts and wishing I was along for the ride. Have fun - that goes without saying - and be safe. If you bump into Don Dillard tell him I said hey.

One of the guys who will be out there with us has set up visits to multiple shops each day. I will post pics here and keep y'all updated. I have been to the January show a couple years ago with my buds from Colorado and I have visited many of these shops before but they always have something different and interesting going on so it's always fresh and exciting to see. Sometimes they ask you not to take pics if they are shooting for a Riddler award, grand national roadster show and/or the many other awards. It's great to see the write-ups on these cars when you remember seeing them being constructed up close and personal.

Had something weird happen today. Seems I popped the bead on the driver side rear tire. Went to lunch with my buds and then off to Walmart to look into a portable jump starter/air compressor. When I got there I noticed the tire was very low. So, I bought the portable jump starter/air compressor, charged it, and aired up the tire. No nails, holes or visible issues, valve is tight. So, I am going to watch it this weekend and see what gives. I was only running about 27 lbs of air so I might have to bump that up a bit and it also may have lost some air during that rainstorm I drove in over the weekend as the right side rear was down about 4 lbs of air as well .... that little air compressor went to work right off the bat!

I've been looking at those units thinking it might be good to have for our Ontario trip this August.

The one I got from Walmart has a Stanley label. Should be finished doing its initial charge tomorrow morning. I will let you know how it holds up.....

As for the tire I had to air up that went flat, I filled it to 28 lbs that day and it is still at 28 pounds tonight ...

That's a long haul from Tucumcari to Kingman, 650 miles. I'd be very careful driving from Flagstaff to Kingman after dusk, LOTS of deer and elk. Good luck!

Well, maybe early some mornings... hopefully only somewhat dark at that time!!

Sounds like you are ready to go. Planning and preparation make a successful trip.
There is plenty for you to do there. If you can make time; be sure to visit the Justis Brothers Museum. It is located a few miles west of the Early Ford Store in San Dimas;
2734 Huntington Dr. Duarte Ca. Thanks for making the trip. Guys like you keep the spirt of the hobby alive.

I was to the Justice Brothers museum in 2000 while on the 40 Ford is 60 Tour - old man Justice gave the group the tour and he was quite a hoot and very knowledgeable. Quite a place .....

Good. Glad you know about them. They are one of the main sponsors for the L A Roadster show. Not a lot of people know about their museum, so there won't be a hugh crowd.
