I can highly recommend Jim Linder (GMC Bubba) on the HAMB as well as these fellows from Texas (The Pit Stop):

Oh, and Skip Haney in Punta Gorda, FL. All very good.

Marll McDonald used to do a very good job. Haven't heard about him in quite a few years.

Skip Haney gets my vote, and while your at it, let him rebuild your coil for a complete set up.

Very good warranty on his work, he takes pride in what he does.

Skip rebuilt my pumps and coil on the '34. Pit Stop upgraded the '34 to crab type distributor. Bubba solved the ignition woes on my '61. I'm an equal opportunity employer.

I guess I should ask him but what's the usual turnaround time with Bubba on a distributor?

I rebuild my own, its not that hard. My dad used to owned an original Ford distributor machine and rebuilt the distributors for all the V8 club members in the area. He started checking and the machine set all the styles of front mount distributors the same way. Dad wrote down the point settings and sold the machine. My memory is that the driver's side points are set 0.013 loose, 0.014 tight, and the passenger side points are set 0.015 loose, 0.016 tight. The advance on the side runs well on stock engines at about 4° advanced. Back the vacuum brake out all the way and adjust it in as necessary to keep your engine from having spark knock.

I would really like to say we return the distributor the week we get them.
However right now I am a couple weeks out with orders, hence working this sat.
Moved out of a storage unit the last two weeks (20 years of stuff) that's done now should catch up in a couple weeks.
So I would say one week turn around.."

Hands down Jere Jobe from Vintage Carburetion North in Somers, MT.

He actually REBUILDS them, not just swap out the points and call it a day.

Do your own, they're not hard. I just did mine, new bushes, new vacuum brake, as well as the usual points, cap, rotor, condensor and setup.

A flathead with stock camshaft, good valves, in good tune should hit 20" of vacuum or a little better (near sea level). That said, I don't think my 37 can do that, and it's not broke bad enough to require fixing (pulling the heads and lapping the valves).
