Vw seat
I just bought a 1931tudor that needs front seats. A volunter at a local car museum said vw beetle seats would work in a Tudor. Has anyone had any experience using these seats?

Re: Vw seat
V-dub seats have been used for a bazillion years. In fact all kinds of seats have been used. The biggest thing when looking for a retro fit is the width. 19 to 20 inches is it. The second thing is mountability. Just how much work do you want to do to fabricate mounting tracks and or brackets. Like I say this stuff has been done forever.

Re: Vw seat
I used Honda Prelude seats because I only had to fabricate rear brackets. The front brackets matched the original. Mine are 6 way hand adjustable also.

Re: Vw seat
I needed more back support for my 1930 Model A Tudor so I installed a couple of front seats from a more modern car. I made an adapter bracket that fit the original Model A seat mount uprights and also bolted directly to the new seat adjustment racks. I did not have to alter anything in the Model A nor on the new seat racks. And the new seats will tilt forward just like the originals so riders can get into the back seat area. All it took was a length of 1" angle iron that bolts to the seat racks and a couple of tabs welded onto the angle irons for bolting the adapter to the stock Model A mounts. Simple, easy to make too.
Here is a drawing of the adapter: |

Re: Vw seat
Seats from an early Morris Minor do the "double roll". They fold just like the Model A ones do and provide reasonable support and comfort.

Re: Vw seat
For the less informed; Forked means they have really been damaged, un-forked means they are still usable.

Re: Vw seat
It actually means forked, With a forklift. The forklift drivers love to just run the Forks right through the glass and pick the car up by its roof. So if it’s been forked, and it’sbeen raining, the interior is damaged.

Re: Vw seat
I now have Jeep CJ5 seats in my pickup. They work great.
