Penrite steering box grease has only been produced in relatively recent years that I'm aware.

That tip may be from the days when you did what you had to do to get by.

Also, cornhead is 00?

I believe corn head grease is close to 00 but may be slightly thicker, not sure. The 00 I use which is the same grease/oil that every Snapper dealer should have is also known as cotton picker spindle shaft grease. Ask for it at a TSC store. I was a Snapper dealer for years, and used it for all gears and chains on all snapper equipment including worm gear boxes on tillers and snowblowers.

I've been using John Deere Corn Head grease and it seems to work well. You can buy it at any JD dealership.

I'm retired from Deere so I'm kinda partial to JD products
