Default Listen to my engine...More video

This is not a good video but the important part is the sound.....

What do you hear?

Break it to me gently!

Sounds like it could be a timing gear, they can make a lot of racket, easy to replace!

Does the noise lessen when you fully retard the spark (lever fully up) and get louder as the spark is advanced (lever down)? If it does, suspect loose pistons or bearings. If the noise stays the same, suspect loose valves or worn timing gears. Also take a listen with the fan belt off.

I can hear something, but I'm in no way an expert.
I would heed what the "Barn masters" detect, you know who they are? One has already responded, hopefully the others will chime in.
But I would ask you...how does it sound/act under load?

I can't get it to open. I guess it doesn't work with explorer 7.

Here is another I took today..

I'm thinking there is one or more valves sticking or broken valve springs. A vacuum test showed a wobbly needle between 16 and 17 in. hg at idle (I'm at 2800 feet) with the occasional drop to 14 accompanied by an audible stumble/miss..

It did not occur to me to video the vacuum gauge!

It doesn't sound bad to me. I do hear the Tappets when you rev it up some. Mine has the same tappet sound revved up. My engine has less than 200 miles on it.

All I hear are a couple of loose tappets and sheet metal vibrating when you rev it.

My first move would be a valve adjustment.

check crank end play mine had about .075 and the crank would move forward when throttling up flywheel was hitting the inside of the housing
just see if you can move the crank by hand in & out

I checked the end-play with the engine still in the truck, not the best way to measure it but I got .0095" several times.

Planning to pull the engine next week....
