Default Splash panels above running boards?

A question:
Are the splash panels above the running boards on a 29 Closed Cab Pickup, unique to the pickup.
I have been offered a pair, but they originate from a 28/29 sedan. Would they fit my pickup or are they completely different.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe that they are all the same. 28's have a bulge in them to clear the brakes at the rear of the panel but will bolt on the same as 29's

Tiny, I think you've got that just backwards. The early 28's didn't have the bulge. That was added later when the brake system was modified to meet state standards. Otherwise sedan aprons will fit the pickup, as long as both are late 28 to early 30.

without the JS in front of me its only a guess. Albeit a better guess than some but I'm still working on memorizing them

I have put the image on, not sure if that will help determine.

They are correct for July 1928 through 1929 production. The front fenders will also work on your PU, but not the rears.

Thanks Ray. Really appreciate your guidance. Just one further question, which I appreciate is difficult just from an image, but in your opinion, do you think the parts pictures are likely to be genuine? They do look to be in generally very good condition. I have been looking for genuine parts for a long time, and I want to make sure I get it right?

Car running boards will fit a pickup but won't look right. Pickup running boards dodn't have matting but were diamond plate design, painted black. Like Ray said, sedan fenders won't work on a pickup because they are too narrow. Coupe, ropadster and pickup fenders are the same. Its not likely that the parts pictured are original. Running boards sagged from use and the trenches in the splash aprons rusted out where the running boards rested in the trenches.

Hi Purdy. Thanks for the info. I was aware about the running boards. I have the diamond plate boards in black on the pickup. I am also aware that sedan rear fenders don't fit a pickup. It was purely the splash panels that I didn't know about.
Thanks for the input on the origin of panels, really helpful.

Nick
I would buy a copy of the judging standards. It will answer a lot of questions like this.

Thanks Tiny, I have owned my 29 CCPU for about 2 years. I am going through a massive learning curb, and really keen to form a good understanding of the variances of panels and trim on the Model A. This forum and it's contributers is invaluable.
Thanks
