Brian, I like your ground wire better than mine. I made mine long, thinking I would attach it to the frame, but used engine for ground, but on the other side. I didn't feel like shortening it.

I'm using a 12volt power master on mine. Money well spent. Although it didn't fit right. It does now.

Has anyone got any more experience to report on the Powermaster alternator?
Also, what amperage does the 6 volt unit put out?
Thanks,

A STUDY IN HUMAN NATURE: Whatever WE have on our OWN car is the GREATEST & everyone who doesn't do it MY way, is a DUFUS!!!
If you own an OLD VW bug, you LOVE them, if not, well----------
If you bought a NEW Pontiac AZTEC, you NEVER admit your MISTAKE------"MAYBE" you were BLINDLY DRUNK??
And if you bought a YUGO, in the past, there's NO HOPE for you.

Mine is working well. The car did not make it to Niagara Falls for another reason, but has been fine so far. I have not checked for amps, other than what it shows on the ammeter. My battery has a better charge on it and the headlights are brighter.

Mine is working perfect. After sitting a couple weeks, my 20 amp ampmeater went over 20 for 10 seconds when I started the engine. I have a 30-0-30 ampmeater arriving tomorrow. My speedometer quit (does not record mileage, but speed works) as well, so I will change them both at the same time.

My headlights are definitely great now.

I think I will order me one. I never have liked the way my alternator looks but I want to keep my halogen lights so my old generator is stored away.

I do a lot of night driving and couldn't see with the generator and thought I needed halogen bulbs. Everyone on the FB said I needed an alternator to run the halogens so I bought a Nu-Rex 6-volt alternator. After installing the alternator I didn't need the Halogens. Have run it this way for the last 4 years with no problems what so ever and also have noticed that my points don't pit or burn anymore.

I bought one after reading some of the post on here and messaging mhsprecher. Mine works great. Lights are brighter and horn works better.

The greatest thing with Minervas' 6 Volt alternator, was that the battery was ALWAYS charged up FULLY! She started so quick, that most thought she was on 12 VOLTS!

Jegs website says the 6 volt Powermaster PowerGEN 82006 puts out 60 amps, which is a lot. I have a 30-30 ammeter. I wonder if the ammeter and the wiring will handle that much output?

Yes it is working fine. Even with headlights on it is charging the battery with about 1 Amp.

If the ammeter is wired correctly, it only indicates the amount of current into/out of the battery. The rest of the car's electrical load is not shown.

If you are putting out 60 amps from the alternator, the car's wires will be destroyed.

I have an alternator with a 30 amp meter and it only indicates around 10 amps when the car is running after a start. The value then quickly drops to around 0.

Or you could just order Tom's EVR and install that in your generator and not have to worry about switching to an alternator. Just another great option.

Don't forget that the Powermaster will be a totally new unit with new technology, therefore highly unlikely to fail. When was the last time the alternator in your modern car stood you up?

(Hope they weren't "famous last words"!! )

He makes powerhouse alternators???????
