Default 35 ford pu

Hay guys this is my first early ford feel like a dumb ass I installed a39 convert steering box and mounting plate on my 35. Truck it is to long has any one cut one down an how mulch thanks fellas

'41 has a wider bed, and I think it uses the same fender, so the measurement would be different.

Some strange answers to a steering column question!!

My advice would be to trial fit it and determine how much it needs to be shortened. If it is the center shaft only, they can be cut and rewelded. You need a qualified person to do the welding. It has to be straight and have a high quality weld. I use a welded sleeve over the shaft weld. If the outside tube needs to be shortened as well it can be cut off at the bottom where it clamps to the steering box.

A better approach might be to press the worm gear off of the bottom of the shaft and press in on a shaft of the correct length. It is not easy to remove and replace these gears!

Now, are you sure it is too long?
