Speedometer suppliers or brands.
Okay I searched the forum and so far I do not find my what seems like a daily question I come up with. My speedometer in my 1931 shows it is a Waltham,is this correct or aftermarket? I see on Ebay Stewart Warner and Northeast. Another item while perusing Ebay I see are NORS water pumps, brand new in the box,but old.Would this be a wrong way to go for someone like me always thinking old means not Chinaman.Or as Henry would say is this one of those "spurious" parts? I need to find a good waterpump and a good generator.

Re: Speedometer suppliers or brands.
For round speedometers the Standards show Stewart Warner, Waltham and Northeast.
The Northeast was discontinued in late 1930. Bob |

Re: Speedometer suppliers or brands.
Stewart Warner, Northeast Appliance and Waltham all built speedometers for A's in both oval and round faces. .

There is not much to go wrong with an original type of water pump. Aftermarket ones may or may not be as sturdy as a NOS or new from Snyder's. You might want to just rebuild yours if you have a good core. NORS ones probably don't have a stainless steel shaft.

I don' know if the one on my engine is a Genuine Ford or not.How can you tell if you have an original one to rebuild? Most or at least a lot of things I have run into so far was what the owner could find in 1950's or '60s.I have not found anything that you would consider reproduced even top and upholstery look to be like a local upholsterer but looks good to me.I think the "restoration predates LeBaron Bonney.I cannot remember the man who founded that company but I remember my dad knew him almost personally through our roadster back in 1964.

I know of no reproduction Model A speedometers ever being made.
