Re: Body Re assembling after paint 38
I watched Boyd Coddington's crew get a car all lined up before paint and then they drilled small holes next to a couple bolts of each piece. then after paint, they reassembled and put pins in the holes and everything went back exactly where the pieces were before. .

Caf, You are correct. Here is a picture of an Australian 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible under restoration. Notice that it has the carry over body from the 1937 and 1938 Australian model Roadsters? Ford Australia only offered the Convertibles in 1939 and 1940. Prior to this, the open cars for 1937 and 1938 were Roadsters. |

Re: Body Re assembling after paint 38
Compare the body on this 1938 Ford Deluxe Roadster with the body on the 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible in the previous photo, and you will see that they are the same. Ford Australia did not offer a Convertible until 1939, and continued it on for 1940. Actually, prior to and including the 1940 models, Ford Australia offered a nice variety of body styles. In 1941, all that we got was the Fordor Sedan and a Coupe Ute. These two body styles were the only two offered until a Station Wagon was offered in 1959. |
