anyone ever see a 64 xl with the shift on the column.this was a fordor model.didn know they made them.

Are you asking about standard or automatic transmission?

anyone who ordered a standard or overdrive got the column shift.

Three speed manual and three speed manual with over drive were shifted on the column like 40cpe stated above. 4 speed manuals were with a floor shift. as were automatics that came with a console between the seats. Automatics without consoles were shifted on the column.

Don't know about '64's but my dad bought a '63 1/2 Galaxie 4 door brand new with a cruise o'matic trans that had the shifter on the column.

this is a xl and you can see it never had a floor shift.

i found the answer this car has a swingaway column.you had to have the shift on the column to get this option.you couldnt get it with a 4 speed only automatic on the column.this is a rare car being a fordor hardtop xl to begin with.
