Default Brake drums

I have a set of '40 rear drums that are a bit out of spec and a set of '46 front drums that are OK. Can the '46 drums go on the'40 rear hubs. Internal vs external hub. Since the '46 hubs have a larger diameter hole, will the drums be hard to line up properly?
Thanks in advance.

if the bearing surface on your rear hubs are good, i would certainly buy new drums to fix them instead of trying to fit used parts. do you know how to remove the studs?
